Plan your Scottish road skip.
The council responsible for the proposed position sets the local process. Check that process before committing to a road delivery.
Private land or public road?
GOV.UK directs Scottish road and footpath skip applications to the local council. A skip entirely on private land does not need a road skip permit, but the owner’s permission and safe access still matter.
Shared spaces and uncertain boundaries need checking. Give the council or operator the exact position rather than relying on the postal town.
North Lanarkshire: leave time to apply.
The council’s current road-permissions page lists Section 85 for skips and a 28-day notice period. It also says a requested date may be refused if works conflict at that location.
The application form previously reviewed refers to at least 20 working days. Confirm the applicable timetable directly rather than treating these as interchangeable. Permit fees, duration and any operator administration service remain to be confirmed.
Check what the permission covers.
Ask who will apply, the approved position and dates, and the conditions the operator must meet for visibility and safe placement. A permit does not replace the supplier’s access assessment.
Where parking restrictions apply, ask the council whether another arrangement is necessary. Keep permission details with the booking and raise any change in position or dates before delivery.
