Start with what you’re clearing
Does 4 yards
fit your plans?
Think about the material, the bulky items and the space available. A little detail now makes for a better choice.
Heavy materials? Check first.
Soil, rubble and concrete can reach weight limits before the skip looks full. Agree the waste type before selecting a size.
Leave room for the awkward bits.
Furniture and bulky waste do not pack like loose material. Tell us about anything unusually long, wide or difficult to break down.
A good fit goes beyond volume
Measure the space.
Check the access.
The “4 yard” size describes nominal capacity. The actual outside dimensions and delivery clearance need to be confirmed with the supplying operator.
The skip itself
Confirm the length, width and height. Leave space around the skip so you can load it safely.
The delivery lorry
Check the route, gate width, turning space and overhead obstacles. A compact skip still needs vehicle access.
The position
Choose a suitable surface and get permission for private land. Public-road placement needs council approval.

- Fuel, oil and clinical waste
Keep loads level with the rim. Heavy waste has weight limits; upholstered seating and electricals must not go into a standard mixed load without an agreed authorised route.
