Start with what you’re clearing

Does 6 yards
fit your plans?

Think about the material, the bulky items and the space available. A little detail now makes for a better choice.

Kitchen and bathroom renovations

A useful starting point for planning your load. Break the job down into materials and check whether any large items need extra room.

Heavy materials? Check first.

Soil, rubble and concrete can reach weight limits before the skip looks full. Agree the waste type before selecting a size.

Leave room for the awkward bits.

Furniture and bulky waste do not pack like loose material. Tell us about anything unusually long, wide or difficult to break down.

A good fit goes beyond volume

Measure the space.
Check the access.

The “6 yard” size describes nominal capacity. The actual outside dimensions and delivery clearance need to be confirmed with the supplying operator.

The skip itself

Confirm the length, width and height. Leave space around the skip so you can load it safely.

The delivery lorry

Check the route, gate width, turning space and overhead obstacles. A compact skip still needs vehicle access.

The position

Choose a suitable surface and get permission for private land. Public-road placement needs council approval.

We’ll show supplier-confirmed dimensions in the quote. No single footprint fits every 6-yard skip.

Load it right

Know what goes in.
Before you begin.

Tell us what you’re clearing. The waste type matters just as much as the skip size, and acceptance must be agreed before booking.

Everyday project waste

Usually suitable when agreed:

  • Non-hazardous household clutter
  • Wood and timber
  • Garden cuttings
  • Light renovation waste

Let’s check first

May need a separate waste route:

  • Soil, rubble and concrete
  • Plasterboard
  • Mattresses and carpets
  • Upholstered seating and electricals

Keep these out

Excluded from standard skip hire:

  • Asbestos or suspected asbestos
  • Paint, liquids and chemicals
  • Gas bottles and batteries
  • Fuel, oil and clinical waste

Keep loads level with the rim. Heavy waste has weight limits; upholstered seating and electricals must not go into a standard mixed load without an agreed authorised route.
