The council’s Airdrie vision identifies Graham Street and the historic town centre as a focus for future investment. For a project here, distinguish the property’s front address from the entrance a delivery vehicle would actually use.

Working near Graham Street
For a shop refit or a flat above commercial premises, describe the proposed position in relation to the building: a private rear yard, a shared service area or the public road. A postal address alone does not establish permission to use any of those spaces.
Ask the owner or managing agent who controls the area and whether other occupiers need access throughout the hire. If there is no suitable private position, establish the road-permit route before committing tradespeople to a delivery date.

Plan a refit by waste stream
As a planning example, a bathroom strip-out might produce a small volume of dense tiles alongside bulky fittings and plasterboard. List those separately when discussing a 2- or 4-yard option; room size is not a reliable measure of waste weight. A larger light clear-out may lead you to compare 6 and 8 yards.

Driveway or road? Here’s where to start.
A skip on a public road needs the council’s Section 85 permission. Agree the exact position and who will apply before arranging delivery.
Allow for the council’s published 28 days’ notice. The application form also refers to 20 working days; confirm the applicable lead time, fees and dates directly.
Have the position ready
Prepare a location plan, proposed dates and the applicant and supplying company’s details. Permission depends on the position and other planned works.
Private land is different
A skip entirely on private land does not normally need a road skip permit. Confirm permission, surface suitability and lorry access.
